Federal Transportation Law Helps Smooth the Way for Gateway

Federal legislation earmarking $305 billion in transportation funding signed into law by President Obama in December 2015 will help pave the way for the Gateway project—a plan to build new rail tunnels under the Hudson River to create redundancy while the current tunnels are being refurbished, according to Amtrak President Joseph Boardman. Mr. Boardman, who called Gateway Amtrak’s “top priority among a list of major priorities,” said major federal funding will be required for Gateway to advance, noting that the five-year transportation bill “will allow us to create a pathway to financing it.” Click here.
